Lisa Timms holds a Master of Science Degree in Special Education from the University of Scranton. She decided to become a special education teacher due to her son being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), an auditory processing disorder, and an anxiety disorder. She encountered many teachers along her path with her son, some were good, others were not. She endeavored to help her students and their families as much as she could and also became a parent advocate. She is a Certified Special Education Teacher and the author of "60 Social Situations and Discussion Starters" published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. The book was born from a curriculum Ms. Timms developed when she was an instructor. She was concerned about the influx of students on the autism spectrum as well as students diagnosed with ADHD signing up for online schooling, that would no longer have interaction with their peers. She developed the curriculum and implemented it in an online setting. The success of the program was immediate and continues to grow. Ms. Timms is now dedicated to offering the Timms Social Skills Program both nationally and internationally from her office in the Tampa Bay Area.
